• Stratified = multiple layers
• Squmaous = Squished

Locations

• At the site of physical wear and tear from external sources
• Prevent loss of epithelium due to abrasions…..so multiple layer
• Vagina from penis abrasion
• Esophagus from food abrasion
• Skin to prevent abrasion

Barrett Esophagus

Due to acid reflex the stratified squamous epithelium is replace by mucus secretions coloumnar epithelium
