Congestive Heart Failure

Classification of CHF

• L-CHF causes Right side CHF (due to backflow of blood from lungs Left to Lungs to Right Heart)

Cause of Left side Congestive Heart Failure

1. Chronic Ischemia(loss of function)
2. MI
3. Hypertension(LV => Hypertrophy => need more O2 => ischemia)
4. Dialeted Cardiomyopathy(loss of muscle compliance)
5. Restrictive cardiomyopathy(problem in filling of Heart)

Left side Heart failure complications

• Pulmonary edema with dyspnea,crackles,(fluid backup in lungs) => Heart failure cells (Macrophages eating up damaged vessels rbcs)
• Activation of RAAS(Increases to Complication L-CHF)

Treatment Of L-CHF

• ACE I (stop RAAS system)

R-CHF

• due to L-CHf failure

Complication

• JVD (jugular vein backflow => distended appearance)
• Painful Hepato-splenomegaly
• Pitting edema
