Hypertension Urgency/ Emergency¶
- Measure blood pressure in both arms in a narrow time interval while the patient is quietly resting. Check blood pressure several times before starting antihypertensive therapy.

MNg of HTN urgency¶
Goal in Stable pt - to prevent hypoperfusion
- reduce SBP no more than 25% in the first hour;
- then reduce to 160/100 mm Hg over the next 2 to 6 hours and
- then to normal over the following 24 to 48 hours.
